Three ways to say "it" in Kaaps

Kaaps has three different words for "it": dit, it, and is. For example:

(1) It wassie so nie.

it was.not so not

'It wasn't like that.'

(2) Is gaan rien môre.

it goes rain tomorrow

'It's going to rain tomorrow.'

(3) Sit dit nee!

put it down

'Put it down!'

Part of our work on Kaaps pronouns over the past months has been trying to figure out how each of these forms of "it" is used - whether or not each appears in a special grammatical context. We have also been trying to understand whether and how speakers vary in terms of whether they have all three forms available to them, and how they use them.
